UP TO DATE INFORMATION RE CORONAVIRUS AND OUR CLUB
Due to the present ongoing global situation this year’s open day at Subscription Bowling Club has been cancelled as have all coffee mornings for the foreseeable future. A decision on the future of the club and how it can be financed for the coming year will be made shortly and all members will be notified of the decision as soon as it is known.
Meanwhile the club hopes that all members are taking notice and abiding the advice given by Government regarding self-isolation and social distancing. On a brighter note we look forward to seeing you all again very soon, hopefully a little later in the year.
We have been contacted by Bowls UK with regard to general fitness within the game of bowls, they have written as below.
" We've recently just published a huge guide on the health benefits of playing bowls. Along with handy tips and advice to help more senior players enjoy the game for many years to come".
You can find the guide here: https://www.bowls.co.uk/health-benefits-of-playing-bowls

Players were Martyn Page, John Baird, Rick Gallagher and Laurence Kelly, the award was a beautiful piece of Honister Slate, as can be seen on the picture.
On the 5th May 1919 the Cumberland Bowling Association was formed in the clubhouse of Subscription Bowling Club. On the 7th September 2019 it was fitting that the Subscription Rink of Lawrence Kelly, Ricky Gallagher, Martyn Page and John Baird were victorious in the Men's centenary tournament. President Anthony Little donated and presented a one off piece of Honister Slate to be held by the club.
